OnePlus is ending its long-running OxygenOS software line as it accelerates the delivery of Android 17 to its newest hardware. The company began shipping stable updates to the OnePlus 15 and OnePlus Pad 4 in India on October 23. This move places the launch roughly a week ahead of the company's original schedule, which targeted October 29 for the first wave of devices.

The release marks the first time OnePlus devices have moved to ColorOS, the operating system developed by its parent company, Oppo. OxygenOS, which started as a light Android skin, had evolved into a tuned version of ColorOS for global markets. OnePlus previously announced that OxygenOS would be phased out after the company scaled back its global operations. These two current devices are the first to undergo that transition.

OnePlus framed the update around artificial intelligence, describing it as a way to make technology feel less like a chore and more like a natural extension of the user. The company stated, 'ColorOS 17 is here, bringing a new wave of smarter experiences, smoother interactions, and more ways to make your phone work around you.' The update is built on the concept of 'Flow with AI, Flow Everywhere.'

The rollout is currently limited to India. OnePlus 15 and Pad 4 users can access the stable build, which had previously been available only in beta. The company aims to reduce friction when users move between tasks, devices, and experiences. It also seeks to help users turn ideas into finished work using AI tools.

Further updates are planned for other models. The OnePlus 13 is scheduled to receive the update in the next wave, starting October 30. Previous generation flagships and various Nord models are also confirmed for the update, though specific dates for those devices were not provided. The source indicated that other regions will likely receive the update in the coming days, but no specific timelines beyond the India launch were confirmed.

This software change follows a period of significant operational shifts for the brand. Reports indicated that the OnePlus 15 and other models sold out in the United States after the company reduced its global footprint. OnePlus has also recently unveiled the OnePlus 16, which features a 9,000 mAh battery. The transition to ColorOS 17 completes the software consolidation for the company's current flagship lineup.
