A total run time of five hours and 22 minutes defines the upcoming theatrical event for the series Heated Rivalry. Cineplex will screen all six episodes of the first season in 43 theatres across Ontario starting in early November. The screenings are part of a wider rollout that includes North America, the United Kingdom, Australia, and New Zealand.
Hana Palmer, executive director of global distribution and partnerships at Sphere Abacus, a Bell Media company, stated that the show has become a global phenomenon. She noted that the series generates intense social media and press activity in every market where it airs. The company aims to provide audiences in the listed regions with the chance to view the drama on large screens.
Tickets for the event are currently available through Cineplex online. Fans can purchase a ticket for the complete marathon at a price of $24.99. Alternatively, viewers can buy tickets for two-episode blocks for $9.99 per screening. The two-episode screenings will occur on November 6, 10, and 11. Audiences can select specific pairs, including episodes one and two, three and four, or five and six.
The primary marathon screening is scheduled for November 8. An additional marathon session will take place on November 17 at 25 locations across the country. In Ontario, the marathon will be shown at venues such as Cineplex Cinemas Vaughan, SilverCity Richmond Hill Cinemas, and Galaxy Cinemas Barrie. Other locations hosting the full six-episode run include Galaxy Cinemas Guelph and SilverCity Burlington Cinemas.
The series is based on the bestselling book series Game Changers by Rachel Reid. It follows rival hockey players Shane Hollander and Ilya Rozanov, who are described as the two biggest stars in Major League Hockey. The plot centers on their relationship, which the release describes as a journey of love, denial, and self-discovery spanning eight years. The characters must determine if their romance can coexist with their competitive professional lives.
Cast additions for the upcoming second season have been confirmed. Emily Hampshire, known for her role in Schitt's Creek, will join the series. Edvin Ryding, an actor from 28 Years Later, and Sabrina Jalees, recognized for her work in Black Mirror, are also confirmed for the next installment. The series continues its release on the Crave streaming platform alongside the theatrical events.
