Mexican former television presenter Inés Gómez Mont was reported detained in Florida on October 30, according to information held by Mexican outlets Milenio and El Siglo de Torreón. The report surfaced weeks after Interpol red notices for Gómez Mont and her husband, Víctor Manuel Álvarez Puga, were withdrawn, while Mexican arrest warrants and attorney general investigations remained in force.

Confirmation is still pending from authorities in the United States and Mexico. Open questions include which agency carried out the arrest, where Gómez Mont would be held, and what procedure would govern any transfer to Mexican territory.

In Mexico, Gómez Mont faces an arrest warrant on allegations of organized crime, embezzlement, and handling funds of illicit origin. The charges are part of judicial proceedings that must be resolved by the competent authorities.

Arrest warrants for Gómez Mont and Álvarez Puga were issued in September 2021. Both were linked that month to investigations into an alleged scheme diverting federal funds. The couple left Mexico that year, and Interpol issued red notices in October 2021 at the request of Mexican authorities to aid in locating them.

Any transfer of Gómez Mont to Mexico would not be automatic. It would depend on proceedings open in the United States, on the charges considered for her detention, and on requests made by Mexican authorities.

If the detention is confirmed in full, it would mark the first public appearance by the former presenter before an authority in years. Authorities would then need to determine whether she remains in the United States under a local process or moves toward Mexico to answer the orders under which she remains under investigation.
