The Class 6A high school football regular season in Minnesota concluded Friday night with conflicting narratives across the East Metro. While Roseville secured a long-sought subdistrict title, a last-second field goal in the south metro upended local expectations and altered the playoff seeding landscape.

In Roseville, the Raiders defeated Coon Rapids 24-14 to capture the Metro Maroon subdistrict crown. The victory gave the team a 4-4 regular season record, their best finish since 2017. Senior quarterback Chase Browning was the primary offensive force, passing for 162 yards and three touchdowns. Browning described the emotional release after a difficult campaign. "It's an amazing feeling," he said. "I don't even have words for it. We've all worked so hard. It's great to see it finally paying off."

Other results in the division provided clear indicators for upcoming playoff seeds. Centennial defeated Anoka 38-6, a margin of victory that likely guarantees the Cougars a No. 3 seed. Anoka’s offense managed only six points, marking the first time this season the team was held to single digits. In a closer contest, Mounds View claimed the Metro East subdistrict title with a 22-16 win over White Bear Lake.

The Mounds View victory hinged on a late surge. Trailing by two points, the Mustangs took the lead when quarterback Tanner Jude scored on a one-yard run with 65 seconds remaining. A successful two-point conversion extended their advantage to six points. Preston Johnson secured the win by intercepting a pass on White Bear Lake’s final possession. The Mounds View defense limited White Bear Lake quarterback Wyatt Stachowiak to six completions on 24 attempts.

Individual performances also shaped the standings. Forest Lake running back Mack Jurkovich rushed for 245 yards and two touchdowns in a 31-13 win over Stillwater. The victory secured a No. 2 seed for the Rangers. Jurkovich, who has committed to play for St. Thomas, finished the regular season with 1,600 rushing yards. Park receiver Manny Vargas contributed twice in an 18-10 win over Eastview, scoring on a pass and a 75-yard punt return.

East Ridge concluded its season with a 42-31 victory over rival Woodbury. Logan Tretter ran for two touchdowns, and Elias Mather returned an interception for a late score to settle the game. The result capped a regular season that likely fell short of the program’s internal expectations.

The most volatile finish occurred in the south metro, where Lakeville South upset Rosemount 17-14. Sophomore kicker Dylan Nelson kicked a 36-yard field goal with one second remaining. The win complicates the seeding picture for Class 6A playoff teams in that region.
