David Jackson and Blanca Jackson, a couple from Nooksack, were booked into the Whatcom County Jail on Wednesday after deputies found probable cause for multiple charges related to a vehicle theft and assault.
The investigation traces back to October 22, when the victim arranged to meet a buyer at a retail store on Meridian Street to show a car for sale. During the test drive, the man driving the vehicle pulled over and ordered the victim out. He then punched the victim in the head. A woman who arrived in a separate vehicle began hitting and kicking the victim. The victim reported that one of the suspects placed hands around their throat, restricting their airway.
After the altercation, the man drove off in the victim’s car while the woman left in her own vehicle. Investigators later located a vehicle matching the description of the one seen leaving the scene parked in the Jacksons’ driveway.
Authorities identified the suspects as 57-year-old David Jackson and 58-year-old Blanca Jackson. Both were arrested on October 25 without incident. They face charges of first-degree robbery, second-degree assault, and theft of a motor vehicle.
The couple remains in the Whatcom County Jail pending further legal proceedings.
