FBI agents exchanged gunfire with an occupant during an early morning raid on a home at Glebe Street in Lemon Grove on Wednesday. The operation began around 6 a.m., when the first of several law enforcement vehicles arrived at the location. Neighbors reported seeing dozens of officers from the FBI, the Drug Enforcement Administration, and the San Diego County Sheriff's Department gathered outside the residence.
The FBI stated that agents were conducting court-authorized law enforcement when shots were fired from inside the building. An agent later returned fire during the standoff. Although no FBI personnel were injured, the agency did not specify if any other individuals sustained injuries during the incident.
Surveillance video from a nearby home recorded the initial arrival of law enforcement vehicles. Haylee Donahue, a local resident, heard a woman announce that authorities possessed a warrant. Donahue also observed the multi-agency team working to secure the perimeter and negotiate with the occupants.
Negotiators spent more than an hour attempting to persuade two people inside the home to surrender. Neighbors described hearing repeated flashbangs and distinct rounds of gunfire. At one point, an agent was overheard stating, “I don’t want to see anybody get hurt.” Authorities continued to communicate with a woman who remained inside the structure even after a man emerged.
Approximately two hours after the operation started, a man identified by neighbors as David stepped out of the home with his hands raised. He was taken into custody. Authorities indicated they were still speaking with a female occupant who stayed inside the property. The FBI noted that agents would remain at the scene for the foreseeable future to process the area.
The agency is currently reviewing the circumstances of the agent-involved shooting and collecting relevant evidence. The FBI said there is no immediate danger to the surrounding community. Authorities have not released the full identities of the arrested man or the woman remaining in the home, nor have they provided specific details regarding the charges or the underlying investigation.
