The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) will close all southbound lanes of Interstate 405 in Bothell starting Friday at 10 p.m. The shutdown will last until 4 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 2, forcing drivers to use alternate routes during the Halloween weekend.

The closure is necessary to remove a section of the pedestrian bridge at the Canyon Park Park and Ride. This work is part of the I-405/Brickyard to SR 527 Improvement Project. The bridge itself will close to pedestrians at 12:01 a.m. on Friday and will remain inaccessible until a new structure opens in 2028.

WSDOT plans to continue construction the following weekend. All northbound lanes of I-405 in Bothell will close from Nov. 6 through Nov. 9. During that period, crews will remove a portion of the northbound pedestrian bridge.

The initial southbound closure covers the stretch from State Route 527 to State Route 522. Drivers should expect major delays and plan extra travel time if crossing the Bothell area during the first weekend closure.

The project aims to improve traffic flow and safety in the corridor. WSDOT encourages drivers to check their website for real-time updates and route maps before traveling this weekend.
