Oregon football concluded its home regular season schedule with a 34-26 victory over the Northwestern Wildcats on Saturday afternoon at Autzen Stadium. The game featured a late offensive burst by the Ducks, who overcame the first-half departures of their two starting running backs. This result marks the team's first win since losing starting quarterback Dante Moore for the season in his fourth game.

The injury list expanded considerably during the contest. Jordon Davison and Dierre Hill, the starting backfield duo, both exited the game with injuries in the first half and did not return for the second half. Davison suffered a leg injury on an awkward tackle in the second quarter and was seen leaving the field on crutches. Receiver Dakorian Moore also left the game late in the fourth quarter, though specific details regarding his condition have not yet been released.

With the starting backs out, true freshman Brandon Smith and redshirt freshman Da’Jaun Riggs assumed the primary rushing responsibilities. Smith finished the game with 82 yards rushing and 32 yards receiving, scoring one total touchdown. The offensive production improved markedly in the second half. After scoring only field goals early in the game, the Ducks generated 28 points and 360 total yards from the final two minutes of the first half until the final whistle.

Quarterback Dylan Raiola led the second-half push. The transfer signal-caller finished with 336 passing yards, three touchdown passes, and no interceptions. He accounted for 120 of those passing yards in the first half. The team's momentum shifted visibly after Jamari Johnson caught a touchdown pass midway through the third quarter, narrowing the deficit to 23-20. The crowd response at Autzen Stadium intensified following that score.

Head coach Dan Lanning, in his fifth year leading the program, celebrated Dakorian Moore’s 75-yard fourth-quarter touchdown catch with an exuberant reaction. That sideline celebration resulted in a warning from the officials. Lanning has faced growing external scrutiny since taking the job in 2021, and this win addresses some of that pressure. The coaching staff had previously dismissed offensive coordinator Drew Mehringer, whose first year ended with the team struggling to convert drives into touchdowns.

The Ducks prepare for their final regular season game next Saturday. They will travel to Columbus to face the Ohio State Buckeyes. A victory there would keep the team’s season narrative alive, whereas a loss would likely cement the season as a rebuilding year following the early-season injuries and coaching changes.
